Many homeowners and restaurant owners would like to have semi-solid/engineered floorings in place to give them a sense of authenticity and stability over time. Semi-solid (engineered) floorings are undoubtedly a durable, reliable and elegant investment that will give a different hue and excellent image to your space, raising its source value for you and those around you.
It is known that sometimes wood does not have a uniform structure and behavior along its entire length, which is due to the grains of the wood (i.e., the path taken by the wood fibers). The solution to this problem is achieved by gluing several sheets of wood vertically, so that the fibers are crisscrossed, thus offering us a material of very high level, hardness and durability.
Therefore, it is worth mentioning that engineered (semi-solid) floorings consist of 3 layers. The upper and lower surface of the floor are made of natural solid wood. The middle surface consists of several layers (usually 5-7 layers) of plywood. To the point of reminding, that plywood is a set of thin sheets arranged vertically (contra), which are welded mainly by thermal press.
Semi-solid (engineered) floorings thanks to their synthetic construction are products of high strength, with minimal chances of shrinkage, expansion and displacement when exposed to humidity and extreme temperatures. At the same time, it is possible to use them with underfloor heating system, as well as above a concrete surface.
Also, with the proper stapling of the surface to be placed, their sound insulation capacity increases when we walk on them (avoiding any unsightly sounds). In addition, it is an excellent choice for kitchens, bedrooms, living rooms and any other living space.
The most important advantages of wooden floors:
- Quick and easy installation, without destroying the floor below.
- Immediate and easy local repair-replacement of boards.
- Using them with underfloor heating system.
- Sanding and re-varnishing of their surface.
